Laurenz Nikolaus (live)
- Sunday Radio Rudina
Laurenz Nikolaus write about the everyday things that turn out to be the big things: falling in love, getting your heart broken, losing yourself and slowly finding your way back. The songs are set firmly in Vienna, Tinder dates in Zollergasse, an evening out in Volksgarten, the walk home through wet streets, and carried with a lightness that keeps the melancholy from ever getting heavy. Musically it sits somewhere between Austropop and indie, with echoes of Hirsch, Voodoo Jürgens and Beirut. The band grew out of years of friendship rather than any plan, and that shows in how unforced it all feels. Direct, often funny, always sincere, this is Austropop kept alive because it's genuinely in their blood.
