Born and raised in Buenos Aires (ARG) to Capeverdean families, music has been all around Rumi’s life from an early age. Exposed to jazz, Brazilian and African artists as a kid, Rumi soaked in all those influences, which becomes apparent in his approach to djing and electronic music. Since 2016, he lives in Vienna and has built a reputation for himself as a versatile DJ: first starting in the local ballroom scene, soon thereafter finding his tribe of house-heads and forming the collective “A party called Jack”; a regular gathering in Vienna that celebrates house music, drawing many local dancers. The queer roots of club culture from the Midwest and Northeast US have always been a canon in his music selection and in his ideal of a great event. This materialized in 2021 with the co-creation of GAZE, an LGBTQI+ night in collaboration with PRST, bringing together local DJs, visual artists, and international guests DJs. During his sets, be ready for house, disco, techno & breaks, spiced with jazz, vocals and Afro-latin rhythms.
