Merve is a Melbourne based DJ and curator, born and raised in Collingwood, amongst its dynamic street life, gay saunas and punk clubs. Laying her rhythmic roots as a music programmer and agent early on, she has become a key selector in the Melbourne electronic music community.
Driven by a keen fascination with breaking down barriers between audience and performer, Merve explores the boundaries of each space she takes to whilst blurring the dichotomy between light and dark. Behind the decks, a multifaceted dj, and yet her classical house infused style brings a refreshing approach to modern day dance music with trance-like vocals, 303 basslines and old school percussion. Her sounds aspire for a rhythmic exchange that scrambles any axis and connects dancers to a wider vibration, a harder jack, a higher groove.
2019 saw Merve make her Boiler Room debut, recorded at Pitch Festival, with her sets selected as of top five performances by Resident Advisor. She has played esteemed Australian festivals such as Golden Plains, Let Them Eat Cake, Splendour In The Grass and Strawberry Fields. Sharing the bill with the likes of Objekt, DJ Pierre, Eris Drew, Octa Octa, Legowelt, Chez Damier and Honey Dijon.
Merve also hosts a monthly radio show on Hope St Radio and mix series, ‘Noctilucent’, which unveils her best kept secret: a love for ambient and experimental music.
